The NCSL Learning and Conference centre, based in Nottingham and managed by Sodexho as part of an integrated facilities management contract, fended off competition from over 30 dedicated and well established training centres to become runner-up in the 'Training Venue of the Year' category at the annual awards ceremony held at the NEC, Birmingham on November 14.
Joyce Hazard, NCSL Facilities & Operations Manager, commented: “We can put much of this success down to the highly committed Sodexho team we have here. Not only do they market the venue to internal and external clients - and achieve in excess of 80% occupancy a year - but they also ensure that delegates receive attentive and excellent customer service throughout their stay and that organisers are fully supported by knowledgeable event management staff from start to finish.”
In the 'Training Venue of the Year' category the judges looked for a venue that offers the best services and support for the training industry. All relevant factors were considered, including customer service, technical support and catering.
Since opening in October 2002 the NCSL Learning and Conference centre has also achieved Hospitality Assured accreditation, membership of 'Conference Centres of Excellence' and a rating in Johansen's Venue Directory. Head chef, Gerry Henry, also received the title of 'Sodexho Chef of the Year 2005'.
Joyce Hazard added: “We believe this award confirms that we sit at the very top echelon of dedicated conference and training centres and it is a real accolade that we have been recognised as such by the training industry.”
